Julia Sanfilippo, L.Ac.

Julia earned a Master of Science in Traditional Oriental Medicine (MSTOM) from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine (PCOM) in San Diego. She is certified and licensed by the California Acupuncture Board, designated a Diplomate in Oriental Medicine by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM), and is a nationally certified massage therapist by the National Certification of Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCTMB). She is a certified ART™ (Active Release Techniques) Provider of the Spine & Lower Extremity. She received a Bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor with a double concentration in psychology and Spanish.

Julia's clinical experience includes completion of the Oriental Medicine and Asian Body Therapist program, with over 3,500 hours of training in Western and Eastern medicine. She interned at AcuSport Health Center, RIMAC sports facility at UCSD, San Diego Senior's (Geriatric) Clinic, and was a Teacher's Assistant at PCOM for the Treatment of Orthopedic Disorders. After the devastating fires in San Diego County in 2007, she volunteered acupuncture and massage to the evacuees and firefighters. Julia was featured as the local acupuncturist on NBC San Diego News for a Facial Acupuncture Rejuvenation segment. She is the co-editor for the acupuncture page on All Things Healing. Her love of treating athletes has led her to volunteer in the medical tent at the California IronMan 70.3 in Oceanside, with plans to volunteer at various athletic events in the future. She is also the Official Team Acupuncturist for Breakaway Training; the Official Training Program of the San Diego Triathlon Series. Most recently she was voted Best Acupuncture and Best Massage by La Jolla Village News for 2012.

Julia ran her first 1-mile race when she was 3 years old, and swam competitively on a USS team for 13 years. She has a fundamental connection to the physical body and a great appreciation for overall health. Most importantly, she values balance in life: physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. Julia's mission is to promote wellness through acupuncture, herbal medicine and massage therapy.
